Philosophy
I'm an Existentialist in philosophy and a Libertarian politically, though I adhere no particular rule or law of either. I believe that people are free to make their own decisions and that nobody should be coerced into subscribing to one particular morality or set of ethics over another.
We've all heard it said that life's a journey. Well, it is, but none of us are going to travel the same path. We each have to find our own way through it.

Employment
I've held a number of jobs since my freshman year in high school, and more than a few of them have helped me understand myself, the world, and my place in it.
As a ditch digger, carpenter's assistant and construction site gopher I learned what it means to work hard.
As a waiter, busboy, coffee server, dishwasher, and short order chef I learned how to stay friendly under pressure: even if I didn't want to.
As a desktop publisher, freelance web developer, and entrepreneur I learned how my actions affect my life.
As a newspaper reporter I learned the power of truth and how to tell when I'm being lied to.
As an Information Architect I've learned where I belong.

Education
I started out with the goal of teaching, so I attended Johnson State College. After seeing what a teaching career ends up being, I focused on Literature and graduated Cum Laude in 1998.
After that I read, wrote, thought, and clawed my way through web development, database design, philosophy, a bit of sociology, and a lot of internet design theory.

Civic Service
It's not possible to change the entire world. I focus on changing myself in order to help the people around me so that they can do the same. It's all about space: the room we give people to do what they're best at.
